Local elections decide things that touch your life directly - school boards, city council, county judges, the people who set your property tax rate and your neighborhood's zoning rules. Precinct 110 has a say in all of it.

And this year, the guardrails around elections themselves are under real strain. In July 2026, the White House fired the remaining leadership of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission - the small bipartisan federal agency that certifies voting equipment and supports state and local election offices - leaving it without any sitting commissioners just months before the midterms. That follows the earlier scaling-back of federal election-security support at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Election law experts across the political spectrum have raised concerns about what that leadership vacuum means heading into November.

None of that changes how your local ballot works, but it's exactly why locally-run, trustworthy information - the kind this page is built to give you - matters more this cycle, not less.

Mayor: Jane Hughson is not seeking reelection. Ryan Thomason and sitting Place 6 council member Amanda Rodriguez have filed.

City Council, Place 3: Incumbent Alyssa Garza has filed for a third term. She remains unopposed as of this update.

City Council, Place 4: Shane Scott (incumbent) vs. Heather Hunter.

City Council, Place 6 (new - special election): Rodriguez's run for Mayor triggers Texas's “resign-to-run” rule, so her Place 6 seat is now on the Nov. 3 ballot too, for the term through 2027. Bill Miller (who first filed for Mayor), Juan Miguel Arredondo (current SMCISD trustee), and Lisa Prewitt (former Place 1 council member) have all filed for it.

Precinct 110 has nine apartment communities, and we're looking for residents willing to be a Block Captain - for your building, your street, or anywhere in the precinct.
